Every custom piece at House of Bariki begins, a luxury furniture store with a conversation. What follows is a thoughtful, step-by-step journey from your idea to a handcrafted work of art. Here’s how it unfolds.
It starts with you. Share a photograph, a sketch, or even a simple idea. You can also select a design from our collection, ranging from a marble top dining table, marble side table, marble coffee table, to many more. Together, over a call or in person, we’ll refine your vision, translating your thoughts into a workable design.
Once we finalise the concept, a full advance payment initiates your project, a mutual step of trust that sets the creation in motion.
Your idea is then hand-sketched by one of our master artists. This stage is still open to suggestions, ensuring the design is perfectly aligned with your imagination.
Our artisans begin sourcing the finest semi-precious stones. Each stone is then hand-cut and shaped using tweezers, an instrument that offers precision and control passed down through generations.
The semi-precious stones are then sliced and shaped with the precision tweezers and then ground over a disc made of carborundum, shellac, and coarse sand.
Each artisan focuses on a specific motif, whether it’s a delicate leaf, a graceful petal, or a wide stem, all under the guidance of a master artisan (a.k.a. ustand).
Before the stones are set, they are gently placed atop the marble to reveal the full design. This is your second chance to suggest tweaks; minor adjustments are always welcome.
Once approved, the inlay begins. Each stone is fitted into hand-carved grooves using a natural adhesive, followed by a careful polish that brings out the lustre and life of every detail.
We share high-resolution photos of your completed creation for final approval. Only when you’re fully satisfied do we move to the last step.
Your piece is safely packed with care and shipped to your doorstep via trusted courier services.
